Alumni events update
The Alumni Games took place on Friday, December 30, 2011. There were many spectators who came to enjoy the event including about 20 non-participating alumni and several alumni family members. >> PHOTOS
The evening began with a ladies’ volleyball game. There were seven alumni ladies that came to participate. They were joined by six of our current players. The team captains were Kilah Bryan, ’07, and Megan Allen, ’09 and they played three games. Thank you to our captains as well as our officials – Mr. Paul Bernhard, referee, and Mr. Scott Manns, ’83, and Mr. Tim Gleason, ’86, who worked as line judges.
Volleyball was followed by a men’s basketball game. Fifteen alumni men participated in the game and TaRon Bryan, ’06, and Bley Wooff, ’08, were team captains. We thank the captains and our basketball officials – Mr. Gary Whyte and Mr. Stephan Gleason, ’82.
The Alumni Association would like to thank all who participated in this time of friendly competition and fellowship. We extend a special thanks to Mr. Shawn, ’83, and Mrs. Wendi Allen for running the concession stand during the games and to Mr. Scott Manns, ’83, for providing the chili; Mr. Rodney Thompson, ’84, for running the scoreboard and clock for both games; and Mrs. Carol Vaughn Franklin, ’84, and Mrs. Judy Vaughn Thompson, ’86, for handling the registration. We send a very big ‘thank you’ to Mr. Tim Gleason, ’86, for lining up all of the officials for the night and for soliciting donations to cover the cost of the gifts we gave the officials for their services.

The Alumni Association was able to give a gift of $75 to the Athletic Association for the new gym floor fund. Thank you to all who gave donations and purchased food at the concession stand. We have received several requests to make the Alumni Games an annual event so the association will definitely be considering this idea.
